Our Philosophy. . . We offer to each resident, independence, privacy, dignity, confidentiality and equal rights. We aim, with the help of our dedicated and friendly staff, to support as fulfilled a life as possible.
We offer a full and comprehensive range of facilities and services that cater for all our resident’s needs…
Accommodation: All the bedrooms are single with telephone and en suite facilities. They vary in size and shape and most are south or west facing with views of the beautiful gardens. The house retains much of the original furniture and fittings but residents may bring their own furniture for their rooms if they wish. There is a lift to all floors and a back door with a porch and ramp access. There is a large sunny lounge with colour TV and a grand piano for social occasions. Our beautiful library is stocked with a vast array of books for every taste, including ones with large print and talking books – and the selections are changed regularly. There is a pleasant sun room on the first floor and the gardens offer a green oasis in the centre of Hull, containing many fine specimen trees.
Meals: The dining room is used for all the residents meals and has tables for four or five people and a choice of menu options, including for those residents who have special dietary needs. Fresh fruit and vegetables are served every day and the light and welcoming dining room is one of the focal rooms in the house for residents to socialise together on a daily basis. Meals can also be served to a ladies room when required.
Specialist Services: District nursing, doctors, dentists, opticians, community psychiatric nurses, chiropodists, hair dressing, dieticians, pharmacists – and all the people attending the House undertaking these services for our residents are from recognised authoritative bodies. Care Plans are reviewed regularly. All residents are attended by their own doctor wherever possible and the chiropodist, dentist and opticians visit regularly. Our resident hairdresser visits weekly. A mobile shop for clothes and gifts comes to the house intermittently and we have regular visits from the clergy for those ladies who are unable to get out and about. There is a self-contained apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge, for visiting friends and relatives, who can also stay for lunch or tea, all at a modest charge.
Laundry Services: The House has a full-service laundry for the residents running from Monday to Saturday. Laundry is collected from the ladies rooms during morning rounds and is returned fully laundered and ironed the following day.
Activities: Weekly music and movement sessions are enjoyed by the residents, alongside a variety of entertainments that take place throughout the year. The House is visited by school groups and choirs and fundraising activities take place at various times of the year which involve and include all the residents. Ladies who are fit enough have full access to the beautiful gardens and summer house. All residents can retire to the privacy of their own room at any time.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
