The St. Columba’s Knitwits club have spent the last few months knitting colourful blankets for the elderly lady residents of Holderness House.

The charity knitting group was founded five years ago by two members of St Columbus church, Liz Pacey and Ann Brooks, and collectively they have knitted thousands of items for various charities, home and abroad. Liz said: “As a group we have kitted toys, baby clothes, drain pipe covers, bunting and hats and this latest project to knit blankets for the residents of Holderness House has been a delight. The home is right on the doorsteps of St Columbus, so it was lovely to do something for the benefit of local people. We are sisters living just across the road and the blankets have been created with love from us.”

Wendy Jones, Manager of Holderness House, said: “The ladies are absolutely delighted with their beautiful new blankets. They will come in very handy for them – and they are a lovely colourful reminder of the generosity of local people. Thank you Knitwits!”
